We believe elections must be free and fair, public power must be accountable, political violence is unacceptable, and no official is above the law.
That point of view does not excuse careless reporting. News and opinion should be labeled clearly. Claims should be supported by evidence. People and institutions criticized in our reporting should be represented fairly, and errors should be corrected openly.
Our aim is not to tell Tacoma what to think. It is to help more people see what government is doing, understand their rights, and take part in public life.
