Reading the data
A dashboard is a starting point, not the whole story.
Crime dashboards describe reports and recorded incidents. They do not capture every experience of safety, the causes behind a trend, or the outcome of an investigation.
For current definitions, methodology, and the underlying published data, use the City’s dashboard and its documentation.
Public safety in public
Follow the work, not just the numbers.
Police data is one part of the public record. The City Manager’s weekly report, City Council meetings, and the Community’s Police Advisory Committee offer additional ways to follow public-safety policy, department updates, and community questions.
CITY MANAGER / CITY COUNCIL
Weekly report and Council record
The City Manager’s Office publishes a weekly report to the City Council. It can include Tacoma Police and Fire updates, the week’s public meetings, and other City operations. Use the official report for the current version and its attached materials.
Community’s Police Advisory Committee
A public place to raise police-policy questions.
CPAC is a policy-focused City committee that reviews and advises on Tacoma Police Department policies, procedures, training, programs, and completed investigations. Its role is to support transparency, accountability, and community understanding.
Meetings: Second Monday of each month, 6 p.m. Hybrid at Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., Room 220-A, and on Zoom.
